Undersheriff Mark Ptaszek


Career
Mark Ptaszek’s professional career spans over 40 years of justice and human service work in Washtenaw County. He has served at all levels and capacities in the Sheriff’s Office, serving 2 different Sheriff’s as Undersheriff. He has also served as the 14A District Court Administrator and Interim Director of Washtenaw County Community Mental Health.

Education
Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Michigan University (EMU) and has engaged in graduate study at both EMU and Wayne State University. He has participated in a wide variety of professional and technical training and has taught at the university level.

Activities & Training
Active in a number of formal and informal community activities, Mark has participated with the Boy Scouts and has served on various boards to include by way of example but not limitation, MSU Extension (both local and State boards), SAFEHouse Center and the Washtenaw County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He has been a student of multiple martial arts and enjoys reading, being out of doors and training dogs.

Honor
Mark considers it an honor to serve Sheriff Clayton and the Office of Sheriff in Washtenaw County, where he has lived all of this adult life.
