On this woodland scavenger hunt, kids and families have the opportunity to search for invasive plants like garlic mustard, pull them, and remove them from the forest while looking for signs of spring along the way. No prior plant knowledge is needed. Program is limited to 10 households. Pre-registration is required for each household. Social distancing and face coverings are required. Join us the second Saturday of every month to help the environment and explore new places. Our stewardship work transitions with the season and we will look for the first garlic mustard and dames rocket of the season while exploring the woodlands at Baker Woods Preserve. No prior experience is needed; social distancing and face coverings are required. Led by Stewardship Coordinator Katie Carlisle and Parks Naturalist Shawn Severance. As the sunsets over open fields experience the delightful aerial display of the American Woodcock, or timberdoodle as some call it. During spring nights the males perform an elaborate routine to impress females, providing a quirky sign of spring that you don’t want to miss! Please wear waterproof boots as parts of the trail can be very wet and muddy. Limited to 10 people. Email [email protected] to register.
