January 9, 2021, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM @ Independence Lake County Park
Looking for a useful way to dispose of your holiday tree? Bring it to us for repurposing! We’re taking trees and using them to create some winter habitat for birds and other wildlife at the park. We’ll have a special drop off spot and then a naturalist will lead a short hike to learn what animals will be using their new cozy home! 5 families per time slot. There are 4 time slots available: 10:00 am, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 2:00 pm. Each section will allow for 5 families to drop off their tree. Program fee is $5.00 per family/household, up to 4 members per family/household. Only one person is needed to register, as the fee is per family/household. Register online at parksonline.ewashtenaw.org. Registration # IL461100.
January 9, 2021, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Sharon Mills County Park
Join us the second Saturday of every month to help the environment and explore new places. Be a part of the ongoing restoration efforts at Sharon Mills County Park by volunteering to remove invasive shrubs using hand tools. We will spend half of the time on stewardship work and the other half looking for signs of beaver and other wildlife along the banks of the River Raisin, then warm up around a (socially distanced) campfire with some hot cocoa. Led by Stewardship Coordinator Katie Carlisle and Parks Naturalist Shawn Severance. Space is limited to 20 hikers, please email [email protected] to register.
