The Preserve Challenge is a four week virtual challenge encouraging people to get outside and explore. Join a staff-led event or explore on your own time. Participate by taking a photo or short video of your experience and posting it to social media with #ExploreWashtenaw. If you have a private social media account, email your photo to [email protected] By sharing your experience, you will be entered to win a prize for each week you participate.
Learn how to build a campfire with only materials you find in nature. Fire lays, tinder bundles and kindling will all be demonstrated and practiced. Learn the rule of 3’s and how they relate to fires and forts. Then enjoy a peaceful afternoon learning and implementing primitive skills like debris hut building. Meet at the beach pavilion. Led by naturalists Elle Bogle and Shawn Severance. For Kids age 7-11. Pre-registration is required, maximum of 10 children, 5 children per naturalist. One adult may accompany each child.
