    The Winter Garden is full of wild beauty! Learn about how beneficial insects overwinter in the garden and go on a nature hike to look for signs of insect life. This hike starts indoors with a 45-minute presentation, while we enjoy a cup of custom blended wildflower tea, please come dressed to hike outdoors also. Appropriate for gardeners and nature enthusiasts. Presentation and Hike by Parks Naturalist Shawn Severance. In partnership with Project Grow. We'll meet in the Field Operations Building.

  2. Nature Explorers: The Mighty Chickadee

    Chickadees are one of the toughest winter survivors. Join naturalist, Kelsey Dehring, to learn how chickadees, and their other feathered friends, managed to stay warm and find food all winter long. We’ll even make a winter treat for the birds! For ages 5 - 6. We'll meet at the Perennial Garden. Pre-registration is required - maximum 15 kids per program. To register your child, visit parksonline.ewashtenaw.org.     You must pre-register for the boater safety classes as class sizes are limited. Group enrollment is allowed and encouraged! Please send an email to Deputy Gebauer (gebauerj@washtenaw.org) with your full name(s), date of birth(s), telephone number, and class date that you wish to attend. There are no further steps required for you or your group to register for the class. An email confirmation with additional information concerning the class agenda will be sent back to you, usually within 3 to 5 days. If you are not able to send email please call 734-973-4713 and leave a message with your full name, date of birth and contact number.

  1. CLOSED - No Home Toxics Saturday Collection Event

    The SATURDAY Home Toxics Collection Events are CLOSED for the season. Weekday Drop-Offs are available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call 734-222-3950 to schedule an appointment. Appointments are not necessary, but help us best assist you and ensure we have staff available to take your materials. The Home Toxics Center provides Washtenaw County residents with a disposal option for flammable, poisonous, toxic and corrosive materials. Regular collection events will resume in April and are held April through November on the first three Saturdays of the month, 9 a.m. to noon, except for holiday weekends.
