  1. Household Hazardous Waste Collection

    May 11, 2019, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    The Home Toxics Reduction Program provides Washtenaw County residents with a disposal option for flammable, poisonous, toxic and corrosive materials. Regular collection events are held the first three Saturdays of the month, April through November 9 a.m. to noon, except for holiday weekends. No appointment needed on Saturdays! If you can't make it to a Saturday collection, please call 734-222-3810 to schedule a weekday drop-off appointment. Please allow at least 48 business hours advance notice to schedule an appointment.

    The rich diversity of habitats at Leonard Preserve can lead to some exciting feathered finds for any birder. Please wear water proof boots as parts of the trail can be very wet and muddy. Bring your binoculars and favorite bird field guide. Hike led by Kelsey Dehring.

    Learn to identify and remove invasive flowers in order to help the native plant community. Please be prepared for working off-trail by wearing long-pants and sturdy shoes. Led by Katie Carlisle.   3. STEWARDSHIP SATURDAY AT SCIO WOODS PRESERVE

    May 11, 2019, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Scio Woods Preserve

    Join us the second Saturday of every month to help the environment, meet like-minded people, be active, and explore. It’s a great time of year to take in the beautiful wildflower display and improve it by removing invasive plants such as garlic mustard. No registration or previous experience is necessary. Please dress for the weather and be prepared for hiking and working off-trail. Workday led by Katie Carlisle.

    It’s National Wildflower Week! Explore the beauty and diversity of the spring botany in this richly flowered woods. A creek floodplain and oak hickory forest all contribute to a great botany site. As the sun sets we may hear spring frogs calling. Led by Shawn Severance
