    The Washtenaw County Board of Public Works meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 8:30 a.m., in Conference Room 2010 of the Washtenaw County Western Service Center, 705 N. Zeeb Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48103, unless otherwise noted. Meetings are conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Act (Act 267 of 1976, as amended). The County of Washtenaw will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as for the hearing impaired and audiotapes of printed materials being considered at the meeting, to individuals with disabilities at the meeting upon 7 days’ notice to the County of Washtenaw. Individuals with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids or services should contact the County of Washtenaw by writing or calling the following: Human Resources, (734) 222-6800, TDD # (734) 994-1733, P.O.     The Home Toxics Reduction Program provides Washtenaw County residents with a disposal option for flammable, poisonous, toxic and corrosive materials. Regular collection events are held the first three Saturdays of the month, April through November 9 a.m. to noon, except for holiday weekends. No appointment needed on Saturdays! If you can't make it to a Saturday collection, please call 734-222-3950 to schedule a weekday drop-off appointment. Please allow at least 48 business hours advance notice to schedule an appointment.

    Due to limited parking, meet at Park Lyndon North for a short carpool to nearby location. Dragonflies, damselflies and butterflies are the intended quarry. Unusual butterflies such as Snout or Compton tortoiseshell have been observed in this area. Ron Gamble leads this outing. Bring drinking water and comfortable walking shoes.

  4. Junior Naturalist: Fields of Late Summer

    Goldenrods, asters, and milkweed, oh my! On this hike we will take a look at many of the things that live in the open habitat of a field; we will identify flowers and grasses, look for crickets, grasshoppers, and other insects, and keep our eyes and ears out for various birds- including sandhill cranes. We will have some sweep nets with us to help with finding insects. For kids 7-12 years old. Pre-registration is required – 12 children maximum.
