  1. 31-Day "Game On" Challenge

    July 1, 2019 - July 31, 2019 @ Any Washtenaw County park, preserve or facility.

    In honor of National Parks & Recreation Month, Washtenaw County Parks would like to challenge residents & non-residents of Washtenaw County to get outside for 31 minutes every day, for 31 days, and "Game On" during the month of July. Participate in all 31 days and you could be entered to win great prizes! How to submit your photos? Email or upload them to our 31-Day Challenge Photo Submission Dropbox (see event page for link). You must include your name, email and place where the photo was taken to be considered for prizes. In order to have your photo considered for the 31-Day Challenge the photo must include your name and park/preserve or facility you visited, so we can contact you in case you are a winner. By submitting your photo to the Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission event page you understand that any pictures taken of you or your family may be used for future promotion, or may be displayed on Facebook.

  2. Virtual Voyage Adventure 5K

    July 1, 2019 - July 31, 2019 @ Any Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission park, preserve or facility

    Adventure awaits! Run, walk, bike, kayak or canoe your way through any Washtenaw County park, preserve or facility on a virtual voyage. Complete the 5K any way you choose, on your own time during the month of July. Sign up and you'll receive a race bib, and upon completion you'll receive a medal! Register online at

  3. Preschool Hike: Sensational Summer

    July 18, 2019, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ County Farm Park

    Use all of your senses to experience summer! We will take a short hike and notice evergreen needles, tree bark, flowers, and bird songs. At the end of our exploring we will make a scent and sound map. Led by Shawn Severance. For kids 2-4 years old. Pre-registration is required - 15 children maximum.   4. Firefly 5K Glow-in-the-Dark Fun Run!

    July 20, 2019, 8:30 PM - 10:30 PM @ County Farm Park

    Join us for our second WCPARC Glow-in-the-Dark Fun Run through County Farm Park! We'll go on a 5K run through the park trails and enjoy a balmy summer night! If you signed up for the Virtual Voyage Adventure 5K, this event counts! Participate in both the Virtual 5K and the glow run and you'll get a special t-shirt at the Firefly 5K. Registration Information Fee: Free with registration! Bring yourself, and a friend and join us for a fun run! Onsite registration will also be available, but skip the line and register at!   5. Hike Along the River Raisin

    July 21, 2019, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Leonard Preserve

    Join naturalist Faye Stoner for a morning hike along some lovely sections of the Raisin. If the morning is hot, we’ll hike a shorter distance, but if temperatures allow, we will hike to the “big woods” and enjoy the shade found there. Along the way we will look at/for plants, insects, birds and more! Hat and water bottle recommended.

  6. Nature Explorers: Bugs & Their Buddies

    July 25, 2019, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Independence Lake County Park

    Come and search for the bugs of summer, as while as their insect and arachnid neighbors. We’ll discover the different shapes and colors these little creatures come in, and that a bug and insect are different. Please bring a hat, water, and sunscreen as we will be out in the sun.   7. Botany & Butterflies

    July 27, 2019, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Kosch Headwaters Preserve

    Join naturalist Ron Gamble for a morning hike along some diverse trails near Ann Arbor. We’ll be looking at plants, butterflies and other insects. We’ll catch some insects for closer inspection, however all will be released. The trails are easy to walk but closed-toe shoes are recommended.

  8. Junior Naturalist: Marsh Madness

    Marshes are beautiful ecosystems and full of amazing creatures. For this program we’ll learn the important roles of a marsh, and look for the little creatures that call it home using dip nets.
