    You must pre-register for the boater safety classes as class sizes are limited. Group enrollment is allowed and encouraged! There are no further steps required for you or your group to register for the class.   5. Heckuva Hike

    Once again we turn nature into our gym as we hike 3.5 miles along the forests and open fields of the River Raisin. This wellness and fitness hike provides a fairly level terrain and good for the hiker who is just starting to get into longer hikes. Maybe you even want to try out carrying a backpack with some extra weight. There will be periodic stops, and if our timing is right we’ll be able to gaze upon a sea of blazing star in the prairie. Please be sure to bring a mask, sunscreen, bug spray, and water. Hike led by Kelsey Dehring. To register email Kelsey at [email protected] Limit is 10 hikers.

Please bring a water bottle, bug spray, and a mask. Pre-registration is required - 5 children per section, accompanied by one adult. No unregistered siblings, please!   8. The Borgen Project Info Session

    The Borgen Project is a non-profit organization that aims to fight global poverty through advocacy and mobilization efforts. This free/donation-based event will include information regarding volunteer and internship opportunities with our organization. Additionally, we will be going into a brief walk-through on the International Affairs Budget. We will then find our congressional representatives and their contact information, teaching attendees how easy it is to make a difference! There will also be a giveaway at the end of the event where we will be giving 2 $50 gift cards to The Detroit Street Filling Station in Kerrytown. Masks are required and social distancing will be in effect. All are welcome and encouraged to come get informed on global issues!

  9. Mindful 'Forest Bathing' Among The Oaks

    August 16, 2020, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM @ Miller-Smith Preserve

    Immerse yourself in the hum of the late summer woods, allowing the deep olive green, sunflecked flowers and quiet bird songs to connect you to the peace of the present moment. We will hike together in quiet meditation, with pauses for reflection with our hike leader, Doreen Murasky of Mindful Dexter. Parks Naturalist Shawn Severance will share some natural history of the oak forest at the end of the hike. We will hike over gently rolling terrain for approximately ¾ of a mile. Please bring a water bottle, bug spray, and a mask.
