  2. Household Hazardous Waste Collection

    July 21, 2018, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    The Home Toxics Reduction Program provides Washtenaw County residents with a disposal option for flammable, poisonous, toxic and corrosive materials. Regular collection events are held the first three Saturdays of the month, April through November 9 a.m. to noon, except for holiday weekends. No appointment needed on Saturdays! If you can't make it to a Saturday collection, please call 734-222-3810 to schedule a weekday drop-off appointment. Please allow at least 48 business hours advance notice to schedule an appointment.

    Hike boardwalks and trails in search of butterflies. We will learn how to identify butterflies and discuss habitat, flight pattern, and coloration. We plan to catch (and release) some for close observation. Long pants recommended. Ron Gamble leads this program.

  5. Botany of The Gosline Preserve With Ellen Weatherbee

    July 22, 2018, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Independence Lake County Park

    Gosline Preserve includes 42 acres of diverse wetlands, grasslands, and woodland habitats. Washtenaw County owns the land and it is further protected by a conservation easement held by Legacy Land Conservancy. We invite you to explore the diverse terrain with experts Ellen Weatherbee and Faye Stoner. This is not a long hike, though it could pass through wet areas. Julie will teach us a simple exercise that can be done at any time to bring about a deep transformation and connection to the peace of the present moment. This guided movement meditation will be led by Julie Woodward, MA, MSW. Julie is a meditation and yoga instructor, U of M Health Educator, and Co-founder of Mindful City Ann Arbor.
