    The Board of Health works to identify public health problems and concerns in the community, establish health priorities and advise the Board of Commissioners and Washtenaw County Health Department on issues and possible solutions. Posted in compliance with the Open Meetings Act 267 of 1976. The County of Washtenaw will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed materials being considered at the meeting, to individuals with disabilities at the meeting upon 7 days’ notice to the County of Washtenaw.   2. CLOSED - No Household Hazardous Waste Collection on 08/24/19

    08/24/19 - The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center is closed. The next Saturday collection is scheduled for September 7, 2019. The Home Toxics Reduction Program provides Washtenaw County residents with a disposal option for flammable, poisonous, toxic and corrosive materials. Regular collection events are held the first three Saturdays of the month, April through November 9 a.m. to noon, except for holiday weekends. No appointment needed on Saturdays! If you can't make it to a Saturday collection, please call 734-222-3810 to schedule a weekday drop-off appointment. Please allow at least 48 business hours advance notice to schedule an appointment.

Bring rain garden plants to share – or empty hands if you have an empty rain garden! Please label any plants you bring. Stick around to pull a few weeds from the Rec & Ed Rain Garden and get it looking ship-shape.

Take a hike to look for the adult dragonflies and make a special dragonfly craft. For kids 5-6 years old. Pre-registration is required – 15 children maximum.   9. Junior Naturalist: Fields of Late Summer

    August 31, 2019, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM @ West Lake Preserve

    Goldenrods, asters, and milkweed, oh my! On this hike we will take a look at many of the things that live in the open habitat of a field; we will identify flowers and grasses, look for crickets, grasshoppers, and other insects, and keep our eyes and ears out for various birds- including sandhill cranes. We will have some sweep nets with us to help with finding insects. For kids 7-12 years old. Pre-registration is required – 12 children maximum.
