Department Heads of Three County Departments Will Update Board
ANN ARBOR, MI- At their May 7, 2020 Working Session meeting, the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners will receive updates from three essential departments on their respective Covid-19 Emergency response activities. Jimena Loveluck, the county’s public health officer, Teresa Gillotti from the Office of Community and Economic Development and Trish Cortes from Community Mental Health will each provide information on what their departments have done to address the pandemic.
Commissioners hope to hear not only about the economic impact of responding to the virus but also what specific strategies each department has implemented, the impact on service delivery and how clients are responding. Commissioners are particularly concerned about the mental health of county staff and are very interested in hearing about the social-emotional well-being of staff members since declaration of a county state-of-emergency on March 18th.
Working session chair, Sue Shink, shared that, “Our department heads have been working hard out in the field and on the front lines of this emergency. They will be providing an important update to the Board of Commissioners on the critical steps Washtenaw County Government has been taking to serve and protect our residents during this challenging time.”
Board meetings are virtual for the duration of the Governor Whitmer’s Stay-At-Home order and the Board invites the public to attend via Zoom (https://zoom.us/j/434521782). Meetings begin at 6:30pm and the public is always welcome to comment on topics relevant to the Board.
The Washtenaw County Health Department remains the designated source for information on the COVID-19 situation locally. The site is updated daily and can be found at www.washtenaw.org/covid19.
