On March 23, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order (EO 2020-21), directing all Michigan businesses and operations to temporarily suspend in-person operations that are not necessary to sustain or protect life. The order directs Michiganders to stay in their homes unless they’re a part of that critical infrastructure workforce, engaged in an outdoor activity, or performing tasks necessary to the health and safety of themselves or their family, like going to the hospital or grocery store. Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission in response to the order will be implementing restrictions to help keep our community safe. Effective Tuesday, March 24, usage of county parks and natural areas is limited to activities that do not involve direct contact with others, such as walking, hiking, running and cycling. Please make sure while engaged in any of these activities that you maintain a safe social distance; at least six feet from others who do not live with you in your household. If you are sick, please do not visit the parks until you are well.
Furthermore, public and private gatherings of any number of people occurring among persons not part of a single household are prohibited, and in an attempt to make every effort possible to stop the spread of COVID-19, the following park amenities are closed until May 28: the Meri Lou Murray Recreation Center, playgrounds/play structures, and pavilions/shelters.
Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission encourages you to remain active outdoors as you are able, but please do so safely. Thank you for your patience as we follow the guidelines set by the CDC and the State of Michigan to stop the spread of COVID-19.
