WASHTENAW COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

PUBLIC NOTICE – SEEKING CITIZEN VOLUNTEERS FOR VARIOUS BOARDS, COMMITTEES & COMMISSIONS


The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners is looking for people to volunteer for a position on the Board of Public Works. The Board of Commissioners will make this appointment at its upcoming session on February 19, 2020 at 6:45 p.m. in the Board Room, Administration Building, 220 North Main Street, Ann Arbor, Michigan. 


Individuals interested in applying should submit a letter of interest and resume, including a home address, to the Washtenaw County Clerk’s office, Attention: Appointments, P.O. Box 8645, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48107. Letters and resumes may also be submitted via email to p[email protected], via fax (734) 222-6528, or apply online at https://secure.ewashtenaw.org/bocdob/bocdob.do.


Those resumes received by FEBRUARY 4, 2020 will be submitted to the Board of Commissioners for its consideration on February 19, 2020. The appointments will become effective February 19, 2020. These appointments include:



-    Criminal Justice Collaborative Council - The Board of Commissioners is looking to fill two (2) positions representing the General Public for two-year terms expiring December 31, 2021. The purpose of the C.J.C.C. is to maximize efficiency, effectiveness, fairness, and cooperative efforts of criminal justice agencies by developing plans, programs, and positions on concerns which have a multi-disciplinary Criminal Justice System application, have a positive impact on crime, are innovative or are intergovernmental in scope.


-    Local Emergency Planning Committee – The Board of Commissioners is looking to fill 10 positions representing the following: Law Enforcement (1); Local Environment (1); Elected State (1); Elected Local (1); Owner/Operator of Title III Facility (2); Agricultural (1); Agricultural (Farm Bureau) (1); Broadcast Media (1); and Hospitals (1), all for the remainder of three-year terms expiring December 31, 2020 EXCEPT: Local Environment (1) and Hospitals (1) which are three-year terms expiring December 31, 2022. The Local Emergency Planning Committee was established in 1986, to serve as an emergency planning district under Title III of the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986. The purpose of this committee is to report on hazardous and toxic chemicals in the community as it pertains to the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act of 1986. The committee meets on a quarterly basis.


-    Washtenaw County/City of Ann Arbor Community Corrections Advisory Board - The Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants to fill one (1) position representing the General Public for a three-year term expiring December 31, 2022. The purposes of the CCAB is to serve as a regional board in evaluating, identifying and developing community corrections programs, address criminal justice issues, take other action deemed appropriate and necessary in this arena, and develop a regional comprehensive community corrections plan and apply for funding to the Office of Community Corrections to finance and implement the plan.
