WASHTENAW COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

PUBLIC NOTICE – SEEKING CITIZEN VOLUNTEERS FOR 

THE FOOD POLICY COUNCIL


The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners is looking for citizens to volunteer for positions on the Food Policy Council. The Board of Commissioners will make these appointments at its upcoming session on December 4, 2019 at 6:45 p.m. in the Board Room, Administration Building, 220 North Main Street, Ann Arbor, Michigan. 


Individuals interested in applying should submit a letter of interest and resume, including a home address, to the Washtenaw County Clerk’s office, Attention: Appointments, P.O. Box 8645, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48107. Letters and resumes may also be submitted via email to [email protected], via fax (734) 222-6528, or apply online at https://secure.ewashtenaw.org/bocdob/bocdob.do


Those resumes received by NOVEMBER 29, 2019 will be submitted to the Board of Commissioners for its consideration on December 4, 2019. These appointments will become effective December 4, 2019. These appointments include:


-    Washtenaw County Food Policy Council – The Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to fill seven (7) positions to serve in the following sectors: Waste Management, Rural Agriculture, Nutrition, Planning, Health Care, Community Representative, Economic Development, Public Health, Human Services, Funding, Labor, Food Service, and Transportation, all for two-year terms expiring December 31, 2021 (except one position that expires December 31, 2020). Council members must be available to attend meetings on a Wednesday of the odd months (typically the second Wednesday of the odd months) from 9-11AM, must attend 2 outreach events per calendar year, participate in a committee and/or a Policy Action Team, and must live or work in Washtenaw County. The Food Policy Council was established in 2012 to develop a healthy community and thriving local food system. When writing a letter of interest, indicate which sector you are applying for.
