On Thursday, August 22nd, OCED joined Michigan Works! and the University of Michigan to celebrate another successful year of our joint youth summer employment program. Summer19 is an annual program that connects youth to summer employment opportunities with local government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and local businesses. In total, this program invested over $200,000 in 100 youth as they gained more than 20,000 hours of work experience this summer. At the End of Summer Celebration, there were several speakers who spoke to the importance of this program, including the Washtenaw County Administrator Gregory Dill, as well as employers and youth who had participated in this year’s program.
