[ARCHIVED] Update from the Administrator - Jimena Loveluck Affirmed as Administrative Health Officer

Public Health Logo - New

I am pleased to announce that Jimena Loveluck has been affirmed by the Board of Commissioners as Washtenaw County’s Administrative Health Officer.  Jimena has been serving as our Deputy Health Officer since 2017, and has worked closely with Ellen Rabinowitz throughout the course of her career.

Jimena brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role; in addition to serving with the Washtenaw County Health Department, she has worked in several population health organizations and possesses more than 25 years of professional experience.  Over the course of her career in Public Health, Jimena has worked with state health departments, community groups and boards.  She’s worked with complex budgets, has experience with successful grant writing and demonstrates outstanding operational leadership and supervision of staff.  Jimena has personally overseen a broad range of programs, all related to public health.   Jimena’s educational pedigree includes the University of Michigan, Boston College, Harvard and UCLA, and her commitment to improving the overall quality of life for our residents is evidenced by her willingness to sit on several local boards.

As a leader who values the importance of partnerships, I am confident Jimena will experience great success as Washtenaw County’s Health Officer, please join me as I congratulate Jimena Loveluck on her new role.  Jimena, we’re all looking forward to continuing our collaborative work with you.

As a note:  Although Jimena’s appointment was affirmed by the Board of Commissioners on June 5, Michigan Public Health Code dictates that the state Department of Health and Human Services must approve all Health Officer appointments.  This action can take up to 30 days, so Jimena’s effective date as our Health Officer will be June 24.  She will work alongside Ellen until August 31 to provide time for orientation and smooth transition, then her statutory authority will begin on September 1, 2019.

Again, my sincere congratulations to Jimena,

Greg
