About Us

Gregory Dill, Washtenaw County Administrator

Ginny Trocchio, Superintendent of Park Planning and Natural Areas

Lisa Greco, Director of Children’s Services

In the Public Interest airs on Monday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. on WEMU, 89.1 FM

In early 2019, an impressive partnership was formed, bringing together the vision of the League of Women Voters, the voice of WEMU and valuable community collaboration from Washtenaw County Government.  “Know Your County Government”, is an effort spearheaded by the League of Women Voters, and intended to educate the public about the basics of county government, the services provided, and how it affects them.  The League has a regular bi-weekly 8-minute interview segment on WEMU called "In the Public Interest." As part of that series, the League and WEMU have asked Washtenaw County staff to participate in a set of interviews called "Know Your County Government" which will educate listeners about the basics of county government and the services it provides. The pre-recorded interviews will air at least once a month during the WEMU 89.1 FM Monday afternoon drive time show, "All Things Considered" and will be available on the WEMU website afterward.

"The participation of Washtenaw County staff in the WEMU series supports the League's mission to educate and inform voters," said Susan Wooley, Director of Communications for the League of Woman Voters--Ann Arbor Area. "County government often doesn't get as much media attention as city or state government, and this will help remedy that situation."

“WEMU is excited to be partnering with the League of Women Voters of the Ann Arbor area for our bi-weekly feature we call "In the Public Interest." Local “All Things Considered” host on WEMU and host of this segment, Lisa Barry says "we see it as a great service we can provide to listeners to keep them well informed and aware of the many political issues and elections taking place in our community. We look forward to sharing more about Washtenaw county's community leaders as part of this series."

“I’m excited to help raise awareness for the work that we do,’ states Washtenaw County Administrator Gregory Dill, ‘partnering with the League of Women Voters and WEMU creates a perfect opportunity to let our residents know we’re here to serve them and helps us to be sure we’re meeting the needs of those we serve through our departmental offerings and the programs we offer.’

Upcoming editions include a conversation with County Administrator Gregory Dill, Director of Children’s Services Lisa Greco, Health Officer Ellen Rabinowitz, information about the County’s Broadband initiative, Land Preservation, and so much more.

Is there a segment of county government you’d like to learn more about?  If so, you can email the League of Women Voters at [email protected]

All Things Considered airs on weekdays from 4-7 p.m. on 89.1 WEMU.
