Excellence in Pollution Prevention O & W Inc

O&W, Inc. is a specialty beverage distributor located in Ypsilanti- delivering from over 50 suppliers to Washtenaw and 6 additional counties in Southeast Michigan.  O&W started in 1917 – and are proud to have 5 generations of family continuing their operating legacy.  Their mission statement includes continuous improvement and environmental sustainability. These principles have been put into action and here are a few reasons of why we are honoring them tonight:

  • They have been able to obtain reduced frequency inspection status due to compliance with yearly inventory reporting and inspection results
  • O&W is neat, clean & organized and site contacts Jeff & Delbert are helpful and enthusiastic in answering the Pollution Prevention Inspector’s questions
  • O&W has Formal training program for chemical handling and storage including Safety Data Sheets
  • Waste oil from oil changes on the vehicles was properly labeled, stored in secondary containment and had accurate records for timely pickup.
  • O&W uses a new cloud connect app to track diesel use with proper secondary containment and to warn of problems
  • They replaced several older delivery trucks to increase efficiency of the fleet and minimize repair work needed
  • O&W replaced old lead acid battery charging stations with new Ecotek electric battery charging stations
  • They take empty cans from their customers back to the facility, crush them, and arrange to have them recycled

Please join us in congratulating O & W for embracing clean energy, actively managing potential hazards, reducing waste & encouraging a safe working environment for their employees.
