[ARCHIVED] Washtenaw County Community Mental Health and Public Safety Preservation Millage

On November 7, 2017, voters in Washtenaw County elected to levy a county-wide millage for the purposes of improving mental health and public safety within the county. The millage will be levied for a period of eight years, beginning in December of 2018 and extending through 2025, in an amount of up 1.0 mills, or $1 for every $1000 of taxable property. The funds raised through this are to be allocated in the following manner:

  • 38% to Washtenaw County Community Mental Health
  • 38% to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office
  • 24% to local jurisdictions within the County which maintain their own police force, in proportion to their 2016 populations

This millage is being levied for the first time with the winter 2018 property tax bill, the following documents reflect the actions of the Board of Commissioners with regards to the millage, and reports to the board on its intended use.
