[ARCHIVED] I am Jazz Countywide Day of Reading

Community leaders and students reading I am Jazz book

The Washtenaw and Livingston Counties Transgender Task Force is sponsoring an I am Jazz Countywide Day of Reading during the week of December 6, 2018.

See a list of all "I Am Jazz" readings happening across Washtenaw County at bit.ly/iamjazz2018_washtenaw.

I Am Jazz is a first-person account about being transgender. Jazz Jennings was one of the first trans children to talk publicly about her identity and the challenges she has faced as a trans youth. This groundbreaking book is often used by schools and families to help children understand transgender youth and adults.

In coordination with the Countywide Day of Reading, the Washtenaw County Health Department brought together county leaders and students to read I am Jazz for the below video.

The Transgender Task Force works to ensure that all schools in Livingston and Washtenaw County school districts are safe, supportive and affirming environments for all students by developing and promoting gender inclusive practices and policies and by providing best practice guidance and other resources to educators and students in those schools.
