On November 6th, Washtenaw County voters will have the opportunity to renew the existing Parks and Recreation Acquisition and Development Millage. The millage is a ten-
year, one-quarter mill levy that supports the Washtenaw County Parks system for the purpose of acquiring, developing and maintaining parklands and operating recreation facilities for the benefit of Washtenaw County citizens.
First approved in 1988, this millage has been renewed for an additional ten-year period two times. The estimated annual cost to a typical household in the first year of the millage renewal would be $30. The current development & acquisition millage expires after December 1, 2019.
Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation would not be possible without millage support. Some projects are exciting and readily enjoyed by our patrons, like the new spraygrounds at Independence Lake and Rolling Hills. Others are behind the scenes and invisible to patrons, like new mechanical equipment. Big or small, the projects are vital to provide the quality of service and recreational opportunities that the Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission prides itself on.

Proposition to Renew the Tax Limitation for Parks and Recreation Purposes including Acquisition, Development, Maintenance and Operations of Park Lands and Recreation Facilities for the Benefit of Washtenaw County Citizens.
To renew the millage expiring after December 31, 2019, shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be imposed each year for all purposes on real and tangible personal property in Washtenaw County be increased as provided in Section 6, Article IX of the Constitution of the State of Michigan and the Board of Commissioners of the County be authorized to levy a tax not to exceed on quarter of one mill, reduced by the Headlee Amendment to .2314 ($0.2314 per $1,000,000 of state equalized valuation) on taxable property for a period of ten years beginning with the levy made on December 1, 2020 (which will generate estimated revenues of $3.84 million in the first year) for teh purpose of acquiring, developing, operating and maintaining park lands and recreation facilities for County citizens?
