WASHTENAW COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
PUBLIC NOTICE – DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR BOARD APPOINTMENTS
The Washtenaw County Board of Public Works is looking for citizens to volunteer for a position on the Washtenaw County Solid Waste Plan Implementation Action Committee. The Board of Public Works will make these appointments at its upcoming session on September 19, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. in Room 2010, 705 N. Zeeb, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Individuals interested in applying should submit a letter of interest and resume, including a home address, to the Washtenaw County Clerk’s office, Attention: Appointments, P.O. Box 8645, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48107. Those resumes received by September 3, 2018 will be submitted to the Board of Public Works for its consideration on September 19, 2018. The appointments will become effective September 19, 2018.
The Board of Public Works is looking to fill 11-13 positions consisting of the following stakeholders:
three (3) positions representing Local Washtenaw County Municipalities (including Authorities and other Municipal Corporations)
two to four (2-4) positions representing the General Public (Must be Washtenaw County Residents)
two (2) positions representing the Solid Waste Management Industry
two (2) positions representing Institutional/Industrial Waste Generators
two (2) positions representing Environmental Groups
A term of membership for a position will typically last for three years. As this is the first year, one-third of the membership will be appointed for a term of one year, one-third of the membership will be appointed for a term of two years, and one third will be appointed for a term of three years.
The Plan Implementation Action Committee was established in June of 2018. The purpose of the advisory committee is to foster collaboration, facilitate the reduction of waste creation and the increase of municipal solid waste diversion, and support education related to objectives set forth by the Washtenaw County 2017 Solid Waste Management Plan.
