Accepting applications for the Advisory Council on Reparations

WASHTENAW COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS 

PUBLIC NOTICE – SEEKING CITIZEN VOLUNTEERS FOR THE WASHTENAW COUNTY ADVISORY COUNCIL ON REPARATIONS

The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners is looking for citizens to volunteer for the Advisory Council on Reparations. The Board of Commissioners will make this appointment at an upcoming session held at 220 N. Main St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104 and virtually via Zoom. 

Individuals interested in applying should submit a letter of interest and resume, including a home address, to the Washtenaw County Clerk’s office, Attention: Appointments, P.O. Box 8645, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48107. Letters and resumes may also be submitted via email to [email protected], via fax (734) 222-6528, or apply online at https://ewashtenaw.formstack.com/forms/board_application.

Those resumes received by Monday, November 27, 2023 will be considered by the Board of Commissioners at one of their upcoming 2023 sessions.

  • The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners is looking to fill a final five (5) positions on the Advisory Council on Reparations. Appointees shall represent the following sectors: Education K-12, Workers Rights, Art, Criminal Legal System, Transit. The term of office shall expire on December 31, 2024. The Advisory Council on Reparations will advise the Board of Commissioners and the public on the development of a Washtenaw Reparations Plan. The plan will highlight ways that County policies have harmed Black lives and include specific actions to address redress in the sectors of homeownership and access to other quality affordable housing, increasing business ownership and career opportunities, strategies to grow financial equity and generational wealth, closing the gaps in health care, education, employment and pay, neighborhood safety and fairness within criminal justice.
