In honor of National Parks & Recreation Month, Washtenaw County Parks would like to challenge you to get outside for 31 minutes every day, during the month of July.

This year, take advantage of a variety of opportunities to get outside, get active, and continue to discover their Washtenaw County parks, preserves, and facilities. Challenge yourself to enjoy the benefits that nature can provide for your health and well-being. You are encouraged to embark on "A Lifetime of Discovery," as you immerse yourself in summer. Try new activities, and test your limits, and don't forget to capture your memories with beautiful photos!

Participants of the Washtenaw County Parks 31-Day "Lifetime of Discovery" Challenge can upload their photos through the link on and Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission Facebook event page to be entered to win prizes throughout the competition! Participate in all 31 days and you could be entered to win a grand prize!

How to submit your photos!

In order to have your photo considered for the 31-Day Challenge the photo must include your name and park/preserve or facility you visited, so we can contact you in case you are a winner. By submitting your photo to the Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission event page you understand that any pictures taken of you or your family may be used for future promotion, or may be displayed on Facebook.

Virtual Voyage Adventure 5K

In addition to participating in the 31-Day Challenge, we'll also be offering the opportunity to participate our Virtual Voyage Adventure 5K. This Adventure awaits! Run, walk, bike, kayak or canoe your way through any Washtenaw County park, preserve or facility on a virtual voyage. Complete the 5K any way you choose, on your own time during the month of July. Sign up and you'll receive a race bib, and medal!

About the Race

This is a 5k race through any Washtenaw County park, preserve, or facility.

What is a Virtual Race?

A virtual race is an opportunity for you to participate in race culture without the stress of crowds, timing and a specific date. You can do it where you want, at your convenience. It can be done at at any of our parks, preserves or facilities, doing a variety of activities. You can even do it with friends! It is a great way to get a summer 5k under your belt. It is a great motivator to get outside and active during the summer to experience something new in a way that makes you comfortable.
