Washtenaw Government in partnership with United Way had another success Stuff the Bus event collecting school supplies for students in Washtenaw County. Thank you to the public and county employees for all their generous donations throughout the event. A big thanks to all our volunteers who worked the event and to Washtenaw County Parks and Rec staff who assisted with the set up and break down of the event each day. Thank you to Durham School Services who provided the buses and the drivers for this event, we couldn't have done it without their help! We would also like to thank all the organizations in our community who collected donations from their staff and customers throughout the event. They include, Wurtzel Family Dentistry, Ypsilanti Township Government, 15th District Courts, Pittsfield Township Administration, U of M Credit Union, Fishbeck, Ann Arbor American Legion Post 46, and NSK Americas Inc. Lastly, we would like to thank Bob Oliver, with Ypsilanti Community Schools for his continued support and assistance throughout the event. This truly is a team effort!
The Stuff the Bus event will allow hundreds of students in our community start their school year off with the necessary supplies to be successful! Through all the support and donations we were able to collect $6,850 in donated school supplies, which includes cash donations that allowed us to purchase 390 additional backpacks! All supplies were delivered to the participating schools administration and will be distributed by the schools to their students at the start of the upcoming school year. The schools who received the donations are Ypsilanti Community Schools, Ann Arbor Public Schools, Lincoln Consolidated Schools, Milan Public Schools and Whitmore Lake Public Schools.
See you at the Bus next year!
