GIVE 365 and Gallup Livery will build a natural shoreline along the Huron River to reduce erosion, improve the water quality of the river and compare two methods of building natural shorelines. Last year, a coir log was installed during a natural shoreline planting. This year, bundled sticks will be used instead. The two natural shoreline projects will be side by side so over time, we can see which method is more effective.
The Manors of Creekside neighborhood association will plant a cul-de-sac island with all native plants. The island planting will be short, neat looking and adapted to survive in full sun. We hope this native garden planting will inspire others to plant similar gardens.
