[ARCHIVED] Washtenaw County to host first annual Small Business Fair on March 15th, 2023

WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI., March 2nd, 2023 – The Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development is hosting their first annual Small Business Fair. Designed to connect entrepreneurs with the resources to help their business, the Small Business Fair will feature a variety of support services for those in any step of the business process. The event, which will take place at the Learning Resource Center on Washtenaw Avenue, is scheduled from 10 am to 2 pm on Wednesday, March 15th.

“The event will be an answer for the business owners that do not know where to go to get help for their business.” Cheranissa Williams, Economic Opportunity Manager, shared. “We’re hoping to connect new and start-up entrepreneurs with resources to make their business as successful as they can be.”

Organizations dedicated to supporting those hoping to grow their small business will be available to attendees. The event aims to introduce those partners in the Ecosystem of Economic Development with the people they are looking to serve.

The event will feature several resources including education and resources related to funding, networking opportunities, and a panel discussion.

Anyone is welcome to attend, regardless of what stage their small business is in. There will be resources available to those with just an idea for a business ranging to those that have an established business. The Small Business Fair a free event for all ages and aims to be an educational opportunity for folks to connect and get the help they have been looking for.

The Office of Community and Economic Development works to ensure that everyone can fully participate in our community and our economy. They hope to shift the County's Economic Opportunity strategy to support entrepreneurs and small business owners of color, upward mobility and job training for residents, and the removal of barriers around housing and transportation. 

In the future, the office plans to continue hosting events and creating resources for those who are trying to start or that have a small business. Cheranissa Williams shared, “This event will not be the only one, just the first aimed at helping the microenterprises and small businesses grow.”
