We are pleased to share our 2021 Annual Report with our partners and community. 2021 was another challenging year dominated by COVID-19, but importantly, our pandemic response gained the new tool of a vaccine that reduced serious illnesses and deaths.
Our Washtenaw County community, like communities everywhere, remains deeply impacted by the COVID pandemic. While many of us have experienced illness, lost loved ones, or struggled in other ways through these unprecedented times, we also recognize that we have maximized our available resources through new and existing partnerships. Together, we have worked tirelessly to protect the health of our entire community in the face of the broadest global health threat of our lives. Thank you to our partners in this life-saving work. We are grateful that you joined us in doing everything possible to protect our community during these challenging times.
The Health Department’s COVID-19 response evolved significantly throughout 2021. This report details our efforts working in partnership with our community to vaccinate Washtenaw County against COVID-19. At the same time, work to monitor local data, support COVID-positive individuals, alert exposed individuals, and increase access to testing and personal protective equipment continued – as did ongoing efforts to provide updated guidance to our community and answer hundreds of individual questions each day.
We hope you appreciate this review of our work and response efforts. We did all this and more through extensive collaboration with local partners and leaders, as well as the continued efforts of our permanent and temporary staff and hundreds of volunteers.
We are honored to serve as your local public health department, and we look forward to continuing our work together to promote health for everyone in our community.
