Raising of the Portage and Base Line Lake Level

Ann Arbor, MI.: The lake level at Portage and Base Line Lakes will be raised beginning on March 28, 2022. The lakes will reach their legally established summer level by April 11, 2022, weather conditions permitting, according to Deputy Water Resources Commissioner Scott Miller, P.E.

Each winter the lake level is lowered to reduce ice damage and erosion on the lake shore. For further information, please contact the Washtenaw County Water Resources Commissioners Office at 734-222-6860.

The mission of the Office of the Water Resources Commissioner is to provide for the health, safety and
welfare of Washtenaw County citizens and the protection of surface water and the environment and to
promote the long term environmental and economic sustainability of Washtenaw County by providing storm
water management, flood control, development review and water quality programs. Visi
