WASHTENAW COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
PUBLIC NOTICE OF HEARING
ON THE PROPOSED INCREASE IN PROPERTY TAXES FOR 2018


PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, that the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing on the Proposed 2018 Millage which includes a proposed 0.2327 mill increase to realize the net impact of the change in State Equalized Valuation to the limit permitted by the Headlee Amendment, a 0.1106 mill increase to realize the net benefit of revenues from the State Liquor Tax, and 0.0000 mill change to realize the net benefit of revenues from the State Cigarette Tax, all of which will enable the County to establish its operating millage at 4.4511 mills, Parks & Recreation at 0.4758 mills, Natural Areas at 0.2356 mills, Enhanced Emergency Communications System at 0.1955 mills, Roads at 0.4922 mills, Veteran’s at 0.0983 mills, and MH&PubSafety at 0.9918 mills.

The Board of Commissioners has complete authority to establish the number of mills to be levied from within its authorized millage rate limitation.

If adopted, the proposed additional millage will increase operating revenues from ad valorem property taxes 3.91% over such revenues generated by levies permitted without holding a hearing.  If the proposed additional millage rate is not approved the operating revenue will decrease by 0.33% over the preceding year’s operating revenue.

The Hearing will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, in the Board Room, County Administration Building, 220 North Main Street, Ann Arbor, Michigan at 6:30 p.m.

All citizens of Washtenaw County shall have the opportunity to provide written and oral comments and to ask questions concerning the proposed operating millage.
