[ARCHIVED] Congratulations Jaclyn Bates, Samuel M. Stephenson Sanitarian of the Year

Jackie Bates award news flash

Jaclyn Bates, Washtenaw County Environmental Health Program Administrator, was recently awarded the Samuel M. Stephenson Sanitarian of the Year award at the Michigan Environmental Health Association (MEHA)’s 76th Annual Education Conference!

The Sanitarian of the Year award recognizes outstanding service to MEHA and the environmental health profession. Jaclyn was nominated for this award by her colleagues in the Environmental Health Division. Here is just part of what they had to say about Jaclyn’s exceptional work:

“Jaclyn was promoted from Sanitarian to the Program Administrator in late 2019. While it can be difficult supervising former peers, Jaclyn’s ability to be consistent coupled with her technical expertise, empathy and patience has made her respected by all who work with her. Those attributes carry over to her relationship with contractors and residents alike.”

“Jaclyn is proactive and passionate about environmental health and strives to provide her team with all necessary tools, literally and figuratively, to succeed in their protection of health and the environment. She builds consensus within her team and among customers who are facing difficult and often expensive decisions ahead of them. She is an invaluable resource to contractors, residents, and her colleagues. Jaclyn always says yes to new opportunities and taking on new projects, and her work ethic and commitment are unparalleled. We can’t think of anyone more dedicated to the profession and deserving of the Samuel M Stephenson Sanitarian of the Year award.”

Congratulations on this honor, Jackie!
