As we observe the two-year anniversary of our first cases of COVID-19 in Washtenaw County, we are pleased to share our 2020 Annual Report with our partners and community.
This report highlights the initial phases of our COVID-19 pandemic response from January - December 2020. During this time, our Health Department team made tens of thousands of contact tracing and case investigation calls. We communicated with residents, schools, and businesses to provide health education and guidance. We diligently tracked local COVID-19 data. We issued local emergency health orders to prevent the spread of disease. We worked to expand local testing, support isolation and quarantine housing, and distribute emergency supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE). By the end of the year, we were coordinating emergency vaccine distribution efforts and laying the groundwork to administer thousands of COVID-19 vaccines a week. All of this while continuing to center health equity in our response and make the best possible use of limited resources.
Our 2020 report is a testament to the incredible work of our dedicated public health staff. This report also reflects the critical role our community partnerships play in keeping our residents safe and healthy.
2020 was a profoundly challenging year, but we remain inspired by our vision of a community in which every resident enjoys the best possible state of health and well-being. We are committed to doing this essential public health work.
