Washtenaw County Parks is committed to offering various summer programming opportunities to suit every child, timing, budget, and location throughout the County. We aim to educate the whole child through varied activities, weekly themes, and new experiences. As a result, each camper encounters an environment that helps build self-esteem, emotional and social development, and an opportunity to try new things and expand their comfort zone. Moreover, our summer programs allow campers to unplug from technology and dive into hands-on learning.
Ranging from one week to 11-week programs, our camps are structured to to provide flexibility in your camp experience and ensure your child has an unforgettable summer filled with lots of memories and fresh air. Each camp location offers its own unique advantages. Rolling Hills campers will visit the water park three times each week, while Meri Lou Murray Recreation Center campers go on nature hikes around Nelson Meade County Farm Park. Campers at Independence Lake partake in paddle boats and lakefront activities. The Playground Camp is stationed at three locations throughout the city of Ypsilanti: Superior, West Willow, and Sugarbrook. At the Playground Camp, the park is the playground, with campers participating in a variety of outdoor experiences including field trips, education sessions and park naturalist lessons.
All camps have their own programming but the core of each camp remains the same: providing a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for your child to learn and grow. In addition to these core values, your camper will surely notice the FUN aspect of camp; making new friends, singing silly songs, and other endless opportunities to laugh and play. Our camps are the perfect recipe for an unforgettable summer program experience for your child and peace of mind for you.
