[ARCHIVED] New CDC recommendations on masking

Delta Variant 1

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued new guidance on masking, primarily because of the impact of the Delta variant.
  • In areas with high transmission, EVERYONE should mask indoors
  • CDC is also recommending universal mask wearing for all in K-12 schools in the fall regardless of local transmission levels.
Currently, Washtenaw County does NOT have high COVID transmission. Local indicators are still low, but increasing. See the CDC COVID tracker https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#datatracker-home. See local data.

Data show the Delta variant is different than past versions of the virus: it is much more contagious. Some vaccinated people can get Delta in a breakthrough infections and may be contagious. Overall vaccinated individuals represent a very small amount of transmission occurring around the country.

Virtually all hospitalizations and deaths continue to be among the unvaccinated individuals.

Vaccination is safe, effective & free. Get yours if you haven't. Visit http://bit.ly/vaxwchd or call 734-544-6700.
