RV 2 news flash images

Bringing clinical services to streets and neighborhoods across the county has long been a Health Department dream. The RV resource is the most economical way to deliver these services, and it has arrived just in time to bring COVID-19 vaccination to communities and neighborhoods. It includes a full exam room, blood draw chair, and wheel-chair accessible entrance.

Announcements and locations will be posted on our main vaccine page and shared with community partners and leaders through outreach and flyers. To request the RV bring COVID-19 vaccines to your community location or event, fill out this form: http://bit.ly/WashtenawPopUp

COVID-19 Vaccination

The Health Department continues using vaccination data and community input to site vaccination opportunities. Community events are becoming smaller as more people are vaccinated, and our strategy is transitioning from mass clinics and pop-up events to vaccination teams. This means fewer vaccinations per site, but more sites and likely repeat sites.

At the same time, we are busy recruiting, training, and supporting additional community health workers and new vaccine ambassadors. Our clinical and outreach teams will work together to make the best possible use of our RV resource and community vaccine teams. This will include community outreach and conversations prior to vaccination as well as support during vaccination visits or follow up after, when needed.

Importantly, the RV is equipped to provide more than COVID-19 vaccination. Our clinical team is working to develop staffing and implementation plans for phasing in additional services as expediently as possible. Tentatively, we anticipate starting to phase in other clinical services starting in July. These additional services include other vaccinations, sexual health services (HIV/STI testing), and lead testing.
