The Washtenaw County Health Department (WCHD) is launching the Vaccine Ambassador initiative to help ensure everyone has the information they need to make informed decisions about COVID-19 vaccines.
Ambassadors are people who can serve as trusted messengers within their networks and communities, providing accurate information and resources about COVID-19. Ambassadors will collaborate with WCHD to create culturally-responsive messaging, materials, and ways of sharing information.
WCHD will provide ambassadors with training to learn how to dispel myths and misinformation, answer common questions, and share resources needed to access the vaccine. Ambassadors will meet as a group with WCHD staff on a regular basis to receive ongoing guidance and support.
Vaccine Ambassadors are volunteers who are helping to reach out to communities where greater barriers to accessing COVID-19 vaccines exist. It’s expected that ambassadors will spend on average 8-12 hours/month attending meetings, engaging with community members, and other activities. Ambassadors will be provided a monthly stipend of $250 for their time and expertise. This initiative will begin in May and run through December 2021.
For more information and to apply, please fill out this form. Applications are rolling but will be reviewed beginning May 17.
