Washtenaw County Recognizes Our Health Department

Heroes During National Public Health Week

Ann Arbor, MI – In recognition of National Public Health Week “Building Bridges to Better Health”, April 5-11, 2021, Washtenaw County Honors our Health Department Heroes.

The County Health Department has navigated through the COVID-19 pandemic over the last year while still doing the day-to-day work.  In addition to administering a total of 55,250 doses of vaccine to date, they continue to offer health programming, regular immunizations, public health services and environmental services to the community.

“The County Health Department has gone above and beyond to educate, test and vaccinate our community over the past year,” said Administrator Dill. “I am extremely proud of all our heroes and the dedication they consistently demonstrate to serving our residents. We appreciate their continued commitment and the work they do.”

Since the beginning of the pandemic in January of 2020, our Health Department has been on the front lines, risking their own safety to put the needs of the community first. They are and have always been unsung heroes among us.

Health Officer Jimena Loveluck indicated “As we recognize National Public Health Week, I credit our dedicated, smart, caring and passionate staff with responding to so many challenges and phases of the pandemic to keep our residents informed and safe.  Our Health Department staff are true public health heroes.”

“We are lucky in Washtenaw County to have an incredible team working to promote the health and wellbeing of our community,” said Sue Shink, Chair of the Board of Commissioners and Commissioner for District 2. “To all the public health nurses, epidemiologists, health educators, social workers, administrative staff and others, we want to extend a huge thank you for all you do.”
