14A District Court Pioneers Online Case Resolution

Partnering with Court Innovations/Matterhorn, an Ann Arbor based company, the 14A District Court has implemented three different online case resolution platforms with more on the horizon.  The 14A District Court piloted the first of its kind online ticket review in 2014 in partnership with Pittsfield Township and Court Innovations/Matterhorn as a project funded by the University of Michigan Law School.  This program allows someone who receives a ticket and admits responsibility but would like to avoid points associated with the charge to submit a request to review the ticket to the agency and the court.  As long as the driver has a decent driving record, they can admit responsibility to a no point offense that will not appear on their driving record.  Since the inception of the program, 14A has added the Washtenaw County Sheriff Department, the Northfield Township Police Department, the Saline Police Department, the Eastern Michigan Police Department and the Milan Police Department as partners.  Outside of Washtenaw County, the program has been implemented in many other courts in the State of Michigan and beyond.  To see if you are eligible for Online Ticket Review, please submit a request.

After the success of the Online Ticket Review, the 14A District Court added an Online Warrant Review module as well as an Online Plea module.  For the Online Warrant Review, a defendant can submit their request online to have the magistrate review their case and determine whether or not their warrant can be recalled and their case re-set for another court date or referred to collections if the amount due is outstanding. With Online Plea, a defendant can submit a plea on their charge and potentially be sentenced without even having to come to court.  To see if you may be eligible for either of these options, please submit a request for Online Warrant Review or Online Plea.
