Controlled Burns by Date
- Tuesday, March 23, 2021 in rain gardens within the Waste Water Treatment Plant in Ann Arbor.
- Saturday, March 20, 2021 in the Miller Ave roadside rain gardens between Newport and Maple Rd and the Belize Park rain garden located at Summit and Fountain.
Controlled burns help reduce invasive species and encourage native plants to thrive. Ecologically, it is important to burn these natural areas so that the prairie-like ecosystems continue to flourish. Funding for this work is provided by the City of Ann Arbor and coordinated by the Washtenaw County Office of the Water Resources Commissioner. Burn plans have been developed for each site and a burn permit has been obtained from the Fire Department.
