Portage and Base Line Lake Levels To Be Raised Beginning March 25, 2021

Ann Arbor, MI.: The lake level at Portage and Base Line Lakes will be raised beginning on March 25, 2021, and will reach their legally established level by April 5, 2021, weather conditions permitting, according to Scott Miller, P.E., Deputy Water Resources Commissioner.

Each winter the lake level is lowered to reduce ice and frost damage, along with erosion on the lake shore. For further information, please contact the Washtenaw County Water Resources Commissioner’s Office at 734-222-6860.

The mission of the Office of the Water Resources Commissioner is to provide for the health, safety and welfare of Washtenaw County citizens and the protection of surface water and the environment and to promote the long term environmental and economic sustainability of Washtenaw County by providing stormwater management, flood control, development review and water quality programs.
