Its purpose is to provide children in need with an
opportunity to shop for gifts for those whom they love.
Because the program is funded entirely by donations, the
generosity of our donors is essential to the program’s success. Last year,
thanks to the big hearts of donors like you, we were able to host a total of 200
children from Washtenaw County between the Meijer store on Jackson Avenue in
Scio Township and the Meijer store on Belleville Road in Belleville.
In 2017 we added a very special event, Shop with a Cop –
Back to School edition. WCSO teamed up with University of Michigan Mott
Children’s Hospital where Officers from UofM Police Department and Washtenaw
County Sheriff’s Office Deputies went shopping for back to school items with
kids who were, or are patients at Mott. We hosted 60 kids and their families to
a day of shopping and enjoying each other’s company in a fun environment.
Each year this program gets bigger and better, we hope this
year is no different! We are graciously asking for donations in support of this
program to provide each child with the opportunity to make their holidays and
back to school time a little brighter!
