    Winter is slowly winding down. Red-winged blackbirds are starting to return, skunk cabbages are poking through the ice, and the Earth is starting to slowly awaken from her long sleep.     Michigan is fortunate to have a great diversity of trees. We will hike and learn how to identify trees in winter and learn about their importance to people and wildlife.     March may be rainy and dreary for humans, but it’s prime mating weather for salamanders. In the damp chill of the night air, salamanders are making their way from their upland hidey-holes to vernal pools for breeding. Join naturalist Elle Bogle for a night hike to search for salamanders on their quest for true love. 5 slots for 2 sections 8:30-9:30pm and 9:30-10:30pm.     The magic of birds is they seem to be everywhere you go. Local parks, backyards, apartment balcony railings, quiet forests, and city streets. Birding can be enjoyed just about anywhere, but with so many species it can seem like a daunting hobby. Join Naturalist, Kelsey Dehring, to learn tricks to identifying birds based on habitat, markings, and sounds. We’ll also discuss what to look for in binoculars. No equipment needed.
