    Louis Armstrong and his Orchestra was the first act to ever grace the stage of the Paradise Theatre on December 26, 1941. Bassist Rodney Whitaker, who performed on the inaugural Paradise Jazz Series concert in 1999, leads a top-notch ensemble to pay homage to Satchmo! Whitaker will be joined by trumpeter Marcus Printup, pianist Eric Reed, drummer Herlin Riley, saxophonist Victor Goines, trombonist Vincent Gardner, and vocalists Rockelle Fortin and Chris McDole. Also on this double bill: Chilean-born singer, guitarist, and composer Camila Meza and her band join forces with a DSO string quartet to perform Meza's original music.

    The SATURDAY Household Hazardous Waste Collections are CLOSED for the season. Please call 734-222-3950 to schedule a weekday drop-off appointment. Please allow at least 48 business hours advance notice to schedule an appointment. The Home Toxics Reduction Program provides Washtenaw County residents with a disposal option for flammable, poisonous, toxic and corrosive materials.   1. Winter Stonefly Search on the Rouge River

    Winter Stonefly Search, - Saturday, January 25, 2020, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM hosted by Friends of the Rouge. Volunteers needed to help look for sensitive aquatic insects that indicate good water quality! No prior experience is necessary but PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED BY JANUARY 10. Dress for the weather. Minors must be accompanied by a participating adult. Groups larger than six must be split up. Must have own transportation to sampling sites (carpooling encouraged). Volunteers are pre-assigned to teams that each travel to two stream sites where they pick through samples collected from the stream by team leaders. Optional "Stonefly Refresher" course will be held on Jan. 11 from 10 am - 12 pm at PARC.
