Parker Mill Grist Mill Tours

Parker Mill entrance

The Parker grist mill is an operable mill built in 1873. Its equipment is original, left after the Parker family ceased milling operations in 1958. A visit to this historic treasure provides an opportunity to learn about an integral aspect of rural life in the early days of European settlement in Washtenaw County.

Tours

Public grist mill tours happen on select dates in September and October, and are open house style. The tour demonstrates how grain was processed utilizing water-powered equipment, from the grinding process to the finished product. There is no charge for these continuous tours. The Mill building is accessible. Check our calendar of events for information on tour dates and hours.

Group grist mill tours are available by reservation to school, civic, and community groups by scheduling with the park naturalist. Tours are available May to October by filling out our Program Request Form or calling 734-971-6337
