Program Benefits

The Foster Grandparent Program provides many benefits for older adults and youth in our community. Foster Grandparents volunteer 20 hours a week and earn:

  • A tax-free, monthly stipend of $212 ($2.65 per hour)
  • Pre-service orientation training
  • Monthly in-service training, meals while on duty
  • Annual physical examinations
  • Recognition events including the Foster Grandparent Luncheon
  • Assistance with transportation
  • Increased independence
  • New friendships

Child Development

Program benefits also include positive development of children in areas such as:

  • Cognitive development
  • Demonstrate gains in academics
  • Increased opportunities for all children in a group setting to receive individualized positive adult attention
  • Language development
  • Overall well-being and self-esteem
  • Social and emotional development
