Accessibility Ramp Program

This program offers funding for the installation of exterior accessibility ramps to owner-occupied homes in order to improve the accessibility to the owner's home. Manufactured homes are eligible for this program on a case-by-case basis. The program provides funding for the material and labor cost to install a ramp for homeowners throughout the Urban County jurisdictions. Eligible homeowners' income must be below 80% of the area median income.

All accessibility projects shall include a property lien, which covers the cost of installationThe terms of the property lien shall be in the form of a deferred, zero percent interest loan that is forgiven at the rate of one-fifth per year for a five year period following project completion. The cost of the ramp installation shall be proportionately repaid or collected upon sale, rental, refinance, or transfer of the property if five years have not elapsed. After five years if the home is still owner occupied, the lien is 100% forgiven.

Accessibility ramp grants will be limited to a one-time assistance per dwelling during a five year period.
