Our competitive wages range from $11.25 to $17 per hour, with lifeguards starting at $15 per hour. In many instances, staff can use the amenities where they work, such as the water park, golf course, fitness center or access to the parks for free. Other incentives are offered as well.

Assistant Clubhouse Manager
Under the supervision of a higher classified employee, position requires shift supervision for the daily operation of the clubhouse. Includes assisting in staff training, managing staff work and schedules; also accounts for daily monies and receipts and problem resolution. Answers phones, schedules tee times, and performs other related duties as assigned. This position will need to become fluid in the use of the Fore reservation POS system. This system is used to market the golf course and track all purchases.
Cashier/Concessions/Beverage Cart Worker
Under the supervision of a higher classified employee, responsible for simple food preparation, inventory control, and cleanliness of the snack bar.
Cart Personnel and Ranger
Under the supervision of a higher classified employee, responsible for preparing, staging, washing and recharging golf carts; assists in monitoring golf receipts and tee-off times. Other tasks include picking up trash and maintaining general appearance of golf course.
Maintenance/Park Laborer Aide
Under the supervision of a higher classified employee, performs a variety of grounds care and building maintenance tasks related to seasonal parks use. These tasks require physical strength and effort with relatively low level of complexity and responsibility. Performs other duties as assigned.

PLAYGROUND SITE COORDINATOR
Seasonal Position (3-6 months)
$13.50-15.50/hr (based on experience)

JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of a higher classified employee, the Playground Site Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing and supervising a safe and fun day playground program. The coordinator should have general knowledge of group and tabletop games, crafts, outdoor games and first aid. The coordinator will supervise four playground leaders, oversee the free lunch program and be available to respond to parents’ questions, comments or concerns. They must be able to implement safe play practices, manage age-appropriate levels of play and competition, and encourage cooperation and fair play among participants. The coordinator delegates responsibility for set up, take down, inventory of equipment, and records activity and program participation.
EDUCATION: College course work preferred in Social Work and Early Childhood Education.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two (2) years demonstrated experience supervising children of diverse backgrounds, preferably ages 5-11.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to and from the work site. Upon hire, CPR and First Aid certification is required.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be 21 years of age or older and have a minimum of 4 weeks of full-time administrative experience in an organized playground or similar program. Employee will be subject to a background check upon hire.
OTHER: Applicants must be available to attend pre-program training sessions; also, able to work the full 8 week camp season M-TH June 20th to August 18th.

PLAYGROUND ACTIVITY LEADER

JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of a higher classified employee, activity leaders are responsible for supervising children ages 5-11, planning and leading activities including group games, swimming, crafts and day trips. Activity Leaders are responsible for implementing safe play practices, and for managing age-appropriate levels of fair play and competition. Responsible for set up, take down and inventory of equipment, maintaining records of activity and program participation.
EDUCATION: College course work preferred in Social Work and Early Childhood Education.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one (1) year combined experience supervising, coaching and/or teaching children of diverse backgrounds, especially 1st -5th graders.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to and from the work site. Upon hire, CPR and First Aid certification is required.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have a positive attitude, enjoy working with children in an outdoor setting, have plenty of enthusiasm, good problem-solving skills, and ability to work with fellow counselors and parents. Employee will be subject to a background check upon hire.

Paid Internship Available: Social Media Coordinator
Do you play golf? Enjoy being in nature? Workout at a fitness center? Enjoy running or walking in the parks? Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission has a great opportunity for you to assist with our social media platforms. We are looking for a Social Media intern to help us elevate and scale our social media presence across the organization. This is an excellent opportunity to utilize your creativity and experience to build a robust social media program for Washtenaw County Parks.
Scope of Work
- Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns
- Brainstorm and research ideas for original content
- Create compelling graphics (Canva or similar) to share across social channels
- Create weekly and monthly editorial schedules
- Develop new strategies for increasing engagement
- Help create and edit short videos
- Perform social media marketing research
- Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability
- Write social media captions that speak to our organizations target audiences
Qualifications
- Knowledge of social media engagement using platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Google, and LinkedIn
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms (i.e. MailChimp and Constant Contact)
- Knowledge of Google Analytics and Google homepages
- Experience with graphics programs and video editing
- Strong grasp of marketing strategies and ability to use the concepts in various forms of outreach
- Current student (or recent graduate) specializing in business, marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, or other related field
Location
Hybrid work environment. This position allows for some remote work but will require transportation to various parks, facilities, and nature preserves throughout Washtenaw County. Some in-person meetings will be necessary at the WCPARC Administration building located at 2230 Platt Road, Ann Arbor.
Time Commitment
February – October preferred; Must be available 10-15 hours a week.
Rate
The pay for this internship is $15+/hour
