Michigan Organ Donor Registry

Become an Organ & Tissue Donor

The Washtenaw County Clerk/Register of Deeds office is proud to partner with Gift of Life Michigan and the Michigan Secretary of State as part of a massive statewide initiative to inspire residents to join the Michigan Organ Donor Registry. Joining the Donor Registry takes less than a minute, but it could mean years of life for those needing a transplant. You may become a donor by visiting the Michigan Organ Donor Registry website, calling 800-482-4881 or visiting a Secretary of State branch office.

Joining the Donor Registry is quick, easy, and offers a lifetime of hope to the 3,000+ Michigan residents currently waiting for a life-saving organ transplant and thousands more who need cornea or tissue transplants. After joining the Donor Registry, the Secretary of State’s office will send a heart logo to place on your driver’s license or state ID. People of all ages and medical histories can sign up as potential organ, tissue and eye donors. Your medical condition at the time of death will determine what can be donated; medical criteria changes regularly.

Impact

In 2012 a record 524,418 residents joined the Michigan Organ Donor Registry and nearly 800 people received a life-saving organ transplant thanks to the generosity of Michigan donors and their families. Thousands more received tissue and cornea transplants, the gift of mobility and sight.

Thank you for helping give hope to those in need.
