Meri Lou Murray Recreation Center - Summer Day Camp

General Information

Meri Lou Murray Recreation Center Day Camp is an annual program that began in the mid-1980’s and is held each summer for seven weeks at the Recreation Center/County Farm Park The program includes arts and crafts, games, sports, swimming (3 days in pool and 1 day each at the Rolling Hills Water Park and Independence Lake), nature programs, and special events.

Register early as this is a very popular program. The camp is based out of the east gym of the recreation center, with many activities held at the pavilion located behind the center. Campers are broken up into four groups of ten, based on age.

Eligibility for Program

  • Children ages 5-11 (must have completed kindergarten)

If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, print out our application (PDF) and send it in/bring it in to the Recreation Center.  Authorization for the Administration of Medicine by Camp Personnel form  must be filled out by your child’s physician in order to give prescription medication at camp.

How to Register

Registration will begin in person and online on March 15 at noon. Space is limited to 40 campers each week! 

  1. Online
    1. Select "Day Camp" and then "Meri Lou Murray Recreation Center" to choose which weeks to register for
  2. Fax a registration form and payment information to the MLMRC at 734-971-2094
  3. Register in person at:

Cancellations

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to the Camp Director. Cancellations submitted by the deadline will be refunded according to the table below. No refunds will be issued the week of camp without a physician's note for illness or injury.

Transfers

All transfer request must be submitted in writing to the Camp Director and will only be processed if space allows. After June 1st, all transfer will incur a $10 fee per week, per child. Registration transfers between locations (Independence Lake County Park, Rolling Hills County Park and Meri Lou Murray Recreation Center) will also incur a $10 per week, per child. Transfer are not permitted after the enrolled sessions has begun. 

Zero Tolerance 

WCPARC Camps have a zero tolerance policy towards physical violence of any nature. Incidents involving any type of violent act will result in a meeting with camp administration, and disciplinary suspension, possibly including expulsion from camp. I understand that my child will be expected to comply with the established guidelines for camp, which require children to refrain from using any foul language, hitting, biting, and or using threats, etc.
